Doodle Generations

Basic Doodle Generation Breakdown

The graph below is estimated as there is no way to verify the actual DNA percentage of each puppy without a DNA test. Nonetheless, these Doodle Generations are the general genetic estimations for each Generation.

General Doodle Traits

Doodle Generations F1 and F2

The commonalities between the F1 and F2 doodles are high. This is because both are carrying 50% of each breed. Since this is the case, which traits of each parent will be passed on to the puppies is unknown. Some will look more poodle while others will favor the other purebred (whether that is Bernese mountain dogs, Australian Shepherds, Goldens, Labs, etc.). The coat type varies more in these crosses also. The coat may favor one parent or may be a mixture of both. These dogs are likely to shed less than their purebred shedding parent, but are not guaranteed to be non-shedders (although some may shed very little depending on adult coat).

Doodle Generations F1B and F2B

These puppies are 3/4 poodle. They have very little shedding or are non-shedding. There is only a 25% chance that each puppy in a litter will carry the “shedding gene.” Believe it or not, there are some poodles that carry the “shedding gene,” but they do not shed. These dogs are often hypoallergenic, but in all reality, if you have a severe allergy, it is best to go with a purebred poodle, bichon, or maltese. Nonetheless, if you are set on having a doodle and you have severe allergies, your best bet is going with a BB generation.

Doodle Generations F1BB and F2BB

For those with severe allergies that ONLY want a doodle, the best bet will be the BB doodles. These pups are approximately 81% to 87% poodle. These pups also tend to favor the poodle in body type. Another option would be the “multigen” doodle.

Multigen

These doodles are a pairing of two doodles that are F1B or above (F2B, F1BB, or F2BB). These doodles can also be considered to be hypoallergenic and non-shedding. The parental cross will determine possible coat types.
